I am a skilled chef with over 20 years experience from high end fine dining to top end gastro pubs and luxury hotels. Since an early age I have been fascinated with food and cooking and my desire to be the best I can be took me from my birthplace in Scotland to London working in Chapter One where I was lucky enough in assisting the team to win and retain a Michelin star. Proudly we also achieved four AA rosettes for the best part of a decade as well as The AA “restaurant of the year”.

After Chapter One I moved to the 5 star luxury landmark hotel in London, a flagship 2 Michelin star restaurant run by the highly acclaimed John Burton-Race who was producing some of the best haute cuisine in London at the time.

I have also been in the finals of the prestigious Gordon Ramsay scholarship as well as the Roux scholarships finishing in the top 3 both times. In my first head chef role I was lucky enough to achieve the Good Food Guide restaurant of the year award for the South East of England and also best restaurant In Kent for 2 years running!

Suddenly London was calling again and I helped open some of the best gastro pubs in the City also achieving the 37th best pub in the uk.

After all the fun in the City as a Father to two amazing young boys and husband to my amazing wife I have decided to use my skills to start my own business DAY by Alan, producing amazing food in the comfort of your own home or where ever the bookings take me!

One of the great things I have found about DAY is the opportunities that it has given me to go to new places and meet new people.   I am always humbled by the amount of referrals I get from clients and every week is different.   For example very recently I had the opportunity to appear in Channel 5s “RICH HOUSE, POOR HOUSE”.

I absolutely love what I do now and enjoy meeting new customers every week as well as building my relationship with my regular clients. I am grateful for the loyal customer base I have and the love and support from my friends and family who make it all worthwhile

Alan is passionate about everything he puts on a plate, but he is equally passionate about the provenance and seasonality of his produce.  Alan has an expert understanding on what ingredients  work well together and how best to execute these.  Balancing flavors comes naturally and he can tailor each and every dish to your specific taste.

Alan’s food is all based around using great local produce from sustainable suppliers.  Through Alan’s many years as a head chef in Kent he has seen and tried the good, the bad and the ugly and everything in between so he knows who to use and when to use them ensuring you get the best of ingredients.

Alan has been a private chef for the last five years now and understands that the food is only part of the experience.   As a guest in your home Alan’s priority is to ensure you feel relaxed and comfortable at all times.  He can converse with you and your guests or simply blend into the background.
